Finally reaches point when the audience is appreciating the rituals for the performance not to get the task done, but for entertainment. (eventually gets written down) scripts (to be able to repeat/ record) = theater. Theater not as popular as once was: genres in theater: (do want to have an emotional response) Comedy (laughs) satire (usually making a point, showing foolishness = teaching) farce (explosive laughter) Tragedy (catharsis (release, purging) = welling up of emotion, sympathy, emotional identification)
