Objective 10. 2 identify the major physical changes during adolescence. Just before puberty - growth spurt: girls age 11, boys age 13. During puberty - primary sex characteristics and secondary sex characteristics. Individual onset of puberty varies- depends on the genes and environment. Objective 10. 3 describe the changes in reasoning abilities that piaget called formal operations. With the development of formal operations, adolescents develop the ability to reason abstractly: lets them form hypothesis and deduce consequences. Objective 10. 4 discuss moral development from the perspectives of moral thinking, moral feeling and moral action. Moral feeling: the social intuitionist view that moral feelings precede moral thinking and judgements. Moral action: focuses on social influences on decisions to do the right right. Objective 10. 5 identify erikson"s eight stages of psychological development and their accompanying issues. Infancy - one year : trust vs mistrust. Toddler (1-2 years) : autonomy vs shame and doubt. Preschoolers (3-5 years) : initiative vs guilt.
