Armstrong v. rohm and haas company, inc. (u. s. dist. The plaintiffs armstrong and pottle worked for defendant rohm and haas (rh) when they announced they were closing the facility where they worked. They had the choice to accept a severance package and quit. The plant manager told them they could make more money if they took the severance package and start their own company to handle rh"s outsourced grinding work. Rh stated they would give their new company all the work they could handle . Rh proceeded to give them a small amount of work due to decrease in production. Pottle discovered rh was still outsourcing large amounts of work to another company whom they previously said they wanted to end their dependence on. The plaintiffs filed a lawsuit on grounds including breach of contract. In favor of rh, case was dismissed for failure to make a claim.
