Bulimia nervosa: anorexia nervosa, failure to maintain normal body weight ( 85% normal body weight, intense fear of gaining weight even though underweight, undue influence of bode/weight/shape on self evaluation or denial off severity of low weight, in women: amenorrhea. Missed periods: subtypes: restricting, binge eating/purging, lifetime prevalence = 0. 5, onset = adolescence, 90% female, need for control, perfectionists, physical signs. Lack of remorse: individual is at least 18 years old, lifetime prevalence = 3% in men, 1% in women, higher rates in forensic samples, both genetic and environmental contributions, relationship with the construct of psychopathy, reduced gray matter volume in medial frontal cortex. Pavlovian fear conditioning paradigms at age 3 predicted antisocial behavior 20 years later: treatment, medications, ect, neurosurgery, tms, cbt, schizophrenia, medications. Effectiveness: generally work well, significant improvement in mood usually takes several weeks, some individuals may not respond well or at all, suicidal individuals may need more immediate intervention, electroconvulsive therapy (ect)
