They consist of a nitrogenous base a pentose sugar 5 carbon sugar a phosphate group. A nucleoside contains the nitrogenous base and the pentose sugar. A nucleotide is a nucleoside with a phosphate group added. The c-5" position is the location of the phosphate group on a nucleotide. Nucleotides can have one, two, or three phosphate groups and are called nmps, ndps, and ntps, respectively. Ribose has oh at 2" and 3" group. Sugar is attached to the phosphate group which is negatively charged. Uracil is an additional base it is the same as thymine. Pyrimidine ring are one ring cytosine, uracil, and thymine.
