Other food programs designed to help young children: School programs for low-income children that place a special emphasis on nutrition and health. Many have a dietitian or food service supervisor. However, sometimes people who have jobs in food service lack training, esp. regarding healthy foods for young children. Requires thought & careful evaluation of the physical, developmental, and social needs of those for whom it is planned. Be appealing (taste, texture, and eye appeal) Make children comfortable by serving familiar foods. Encourage healthy food habits by introducing new foods. Provide safe food prepared & served in clean surroundings. Juice drink may have as little as 39% fruit juice. Fruit drink has from 0-10% real juice.
