Document Summary

The energy these receptors respond to is light: light: contains the properties of both waves and particles, three aspects to our perception of light, brightness, color, saturation. The higher the wave, the brighter the light will be: color, or hue, is determined by the length of the wave, long wavelengths are found at the red end of the visible spectrum (the portion of the whole spectrum of light that is visible to the human eye), whereas shorter wavelengths are found at the blue end, saturation refers to the purity of the color people see; mixing black or gray would lessen the saturation. Decreased flexibility of the lens and, therefore, inability to focus on nearby objects: cataract: the lens becomes cloud, deficits due to the shape of the eye, myopia: can focus well on nearby objects but difficulty with distant objects.
