Subtonic a lowered seventh scale degree: tonic/octave, whole tone scale is symmetrical, modes major and minor are modes. Natural minor mode no leading tone, with a subtonic. Harmonic minor mode unstable and with a leading tone. Chromatic scale is made of all semitones. In the melodic minor mode, the 6th and 7th degrees are raised when stepping to the tonic and are lowered when going from the tonic to the dominant. Diminished diminished: interval the space between two pitches, simple intervals intervals up to the octave, compound intervals intervals past the octave, generic intervals only label the distance between pitches. Diminished 2,3,6,7 minor 2,3,6,7: inversions when the lower and higher pitches switch, generic intervals always sums to 9. Levels (layers: pulse (beats, meter, hypermeter (counting multiple measures together) Pulses undifferentiated and equally spaced clicks or taps. Meter the grouping of accented and unaccented beats into recurring patterns: duple strong-weak-strong-weak, triple stong-weak-weak-strong-weak-weak, quadruple very strong-weak-strong-weak-very strong-weak-stong-weak.
