PSYC 2310 Lecture : Infant Behaviour
Document Summary
When the physiological response turns to neutral(habituation), change the picture, and see if. You measure the physiological response (ie, heart rate) the heart rate spikes again (dishabituation) If the infant can t tell the difference, the response would baseline and stay the same. Present stimulus, if they can detect it, the brain waves will change. Give them a pacifier, if they suck slower than baseline they hear a certain song, and if they suck harder, they hear a different one. Can test whether the infant prefers mommys voice or another womans voice. Researchers will watch the infant so see which stimuli it likes better. Infants like big, bold, and lots of contrast, patterns. Infant is in a looking chamber looking at pictures. If there is no response, the infant could have no preference, or they can t detect the difference.
