This is happening because of the classical period in combination with experimentation of philosophical theories about the universe. The virgin is in the centre, with the angle, john the baptist, christ, and a unity is created between them through geometry. The landscape dissolves into a mist, which shows atmospheric perspective. Everything looks realistic, but is on the pinnacle of mysticism. Leonardo has a face type that he often repeats, which is the angel. The child is playing with the lamb, which symbolizes his passion. Hierarchy is shown through chronology of past present and future. The question of time was something that leonardo was interested in, and spent time studying. The figures are placed together and seem as if they are one entity.
