Document Summary
Topology: the shape or form of the network. Idea that the individual cannot pass information unless they are connected to them directly or indirectly. Where they are located between each other. You cannot pass information if you do not have it yet. The flow of goods, etc. between ties. Eg) facebook family feature, friend feature, etc. Note there are a lot of different ways you can conceptualize a network. Criticisms of social network analysis: downplays agency. Not looking at individual choices within a structure: typically no interest in the larger concerns with politics and institutions. Politics and institutions can have influence: too much methodological and too little theoretical. Empirically-based knowledge (i. e. , deductive) may or may not be stronger than inductive. The process is getting so mathematically-sophisticated, it is hard to find computers to process the data they are requiring. There are so many different types of feminisms, it is hard to tackle all of them.
