A weight of 20 tonnes is supported by three short pillars,each 5cm2.in section.the the central pillar is of steel and the outer ones are of copper. The pillars are so adjusted that at a temperature of 15°Ceach carries equal load. The temperature is then raised to 115°C . Estimate the stress in each pillar at 15°C and 115°C. Take Es=2*10^6kg/cm2;alpha s =12*10^-6/°C and alpha c =18.5*10^-6/°C
