HUMB2008 Study Guide - Final Guide: Testicular Artery, Splenic Vein, Bronchus
Document Summary
Identify branches of the abdominal aorta and the organs they supply. Abdominal aorta begins at the aortic hiatus @ t12. Descends to the left of the vertebral bodies. At the level of l4 the abdominal aorta bifurcates into the right and left common iliac arteries. Branches of the abdominal aorta can be divided into paired branches: First to branch from the abdominal aorta as it passes through the hiatus. Supplies the inferior surface of the diaphragm. Leaves the aorta just after it passes through the diaphragm. Passes forwards above the pancreas + splenic vein. Divides into 3 branches: left gastric artery, common hepatic artery, splenic arteries. Left gastric artery: supplies the abdominal oesophagus and anterior and posterior walls of the boy of the stomach, continues towards the right to anastomose with the right gastric artery, which is a branch of the common hepatic artery.
