Holland"s six personality types: (ace sir: artistic = likes unstructured challenges that call for creative solutions. Sample careers; actor, singer, interior designer: conventional = likes well-structured tasks. Sample careers; accountant, librarian, auditor: enterprising = liked to lead, manage or influence others. Sample careers; sales manager, chief executive, school principal: social = likes helping others using interpersonal skills. Sample careers; midwife, nurse, counsellor: investigative = likes to observe, research and analyse. Sample careers; surgeon, robotics engineer, economist: reasonable = likes concrete over abstract problems. It believes that each personality is characterised by a set of interests and values. It assumes that people choose their occupations that match their own personalities. It does not consider situations where individuals have a certain personality type but they choose an occupation that is better suited to a different personality type. It also assumes that influences such as social class, parents" occupations, economic conditions and geography are not considered.
