Economic globalization is characterized by three elements: In the past 20-30 years, globalization has rapidly accelerated. After wwii, the victorious powers create new, global economic infrastructure to stabilize and harmonize the world market (gatt/wto, imf wb) Through the creation of these organizations, a more organized and top-down, regulated trading system was implemented. Borders become more porous and information travels across political lines more freely (though questionable in the context of east-west relations). Corporations have been around for a while, but were originally used to promote mercantilist policies (e. g hudson"s bay company) So originally, the country of a corporation"s origin mattered, but this become less important post-wwii: Phase 2: creation of production facilities in foreign markets.
