Global interdependence- a relationship in which the lives of all people are closely intertwined and any one nation"s problems are part of a larger global problem. Sociological imagination- c. wright mills (1959b) the ability to see the relationship between individual experiences and the larger society. Industrialization- process by which societies are transformed from dependence on agriculture and handmade products to an emphasis on manufacturing and related industries. Urbanization- is the process by which and increasing proportion of a population lives in cities rather than in rural areas. Auguste comte- french philosopher coined the term sociology to describe a new science that would engage in the study of society. Comte is considered to be the founder of sociology . Comte believed that objective, bias-free knowledge was attainable only through the use of science rather than religion. Positivism- a belief that the world can best be understood through scientific inquiry.
