How the registered land system works: estate ownership of land (title) is registered. Each title is given an individual register and is identified by an individual number. Other information about the land is then also recorded on the register. Norris v checksfield (1991: bus driver used a bungalow owned by the employer meant he could get to work easier, he was disqualified from driving so couldn"t work so the employer wanted the house back. Court held it was a licence as he lived there to preform his job better. Contractual: a licensor can revoke the licence at any time. Licensee must be given reasonable time to leave: a licence is not enforceable against the new owner, a contract licence is a contractually created permission to use land. General rule is that a licensor cannot revoke the licence unless there is a clause allowing for early termination. Cannot be enforceable against a new owner.
