Sexuality and morality in late 19th century + early 20th century: Suffragette movement, women going against the moral and pure stereotype of them, they"re not sensitive they are willing to turn to militancy to get the vote. Example of emmeline pankhurst who founds the women"s social + political union (wspu) in 1903. When her husband dies she becomes a registrar out of necessity, she hears and is exposed to stories of working-class women who come to register births of their children, whether they were illegitimate or not. W-c women also come to register the deaths of their children and pankhurst learns about their hard lives, so she decides that working-class women need a voice, but middle-class and upper-class women need equality to do this. You would think as society progresses then conditions for working-class women would improve, but there is still that shame and stigma around the circumstances about children"s births.
