3. 1 distinguish parts of neurons and what they do. We have about 85 billion neurons in our brain. There are probably about 160 trillion connections in our brain. Our brains are slightly slowing than our phones and computers but they are specialized to do so much more, like recognize voices and faces better. Neurons unlike a typical cell has a long extension that helps it communicate with other neurons and respond to stimuli. 3. 2 describe electrical responses of neurons and what makes them possible. The basis of all electrical responses in neurons depends of the uneven distribution of charged particles across a membrane surrounding the neuron. Neurons either fire or they don"t (all or none) When an action potential is reached there is a sudden spike and then a sudden drop in the chare of the neuron. The shift in charge send a signal to the axon terminal that neurotransmitters should be released into the synapse.
