The parties mainly settle and the case never gets to court for divorce and custody battles. Court does not have to step in. Usually negotiated that female retain custody or joint or a mix, but sole custody was hardy ever given to father. Looks like a bias but this is decided amongst the couple. Most times the children were not seeing the non-custodial parents whether they have access or not mothers complain the father becomes disconnected on his own account from the family. Most custodial parents surveyed say that there was no denial of access, but it is true that children benefit form greater access with both parents and they have the greatest suffering when there is a conflict between parents. Allegations at hearing say that women would make false accusations of sexual abuse in order to get sole custody: study show that was the case in only about 1-2% in highly mitigated cases where there was abuse.
