Unfit for human consumption: at times, animals shipped to slaughter are emaciated and should have been euthanized on- farm (eg. Downers: pose a risk for human health: zoonosis (eg. Cattle are implanted to (1) increase gains and feed conversion (2) lower cost of production for producer (3) increase carcass weights and muscling (4) increase returns for producer. post means after: inspection after death, dealing with the carcass: examining for contamination with dirt and feces. Liver abscesses are due to microbes that have entered the blood stream. Example: packing plant worker cuts into digestive tract and contents spill onto carcass. The inspector will make sure all affected parts are trimmed and washed to minimize contamination.
