Research questions appropriate for an experiment: which technique (surveys, experiments) best fit your research question, by judging your question critically, you can decide which experimental technique is best suited. Random assignment is an aspect of experimental design in which study participants are assigned to the treatment or control group using a random procedure. How to randomly assign: a researcher will divide up individuals into two or more groups by asking them to toss a coin, throw a dice, count off etc. The independent variable is the amount of light and the moth"s reaction is the dependent variable: researchers want the treatment to have an impact and produce specific reactions, feelings or behaviors. 3 experimenter then records the number of tips (pretest score). 20 waitresses from one of the restaurants (experimental group) and tells them to introduce themselves and go back after 10 minutes to ask if everything is fine (treatment).
