Began in 1930s to scientifically determine the relationship between inheritance and criminality. Thus, any similarities observed may owe as much, or more, to their similar social experiences than any genetic influences. The longer the child stays with its natural parent or parents, the greater the effect of that environment upon the infant. Hence, a child"s future criminality may in part be explained by certain early pathological experiences with their natural parents, rather than by genetics feasible that adopted children experience certain negative psychological or emotional effects associated with having been adopted.
