She believed that her life would follow the same course. She married early and had three children before the age of twenty-three. World war ii was the second unexpected event to change the life she had planned for herself. Her husband was sent to europe and killed in france. Before his death, my grandmother had taken evening courses at a local college. She eventually received her master"s degree in social work and worked for the state for thirty years.
