Quasi judicial looks a bit like a court with a decision maker but not bound by precedent and isn"t actually a court. Decided on a case by case basis. Way they get their power is the government delegates power to them. Regulations a type of law that isn"t as authoritative. Judicial review- ask the court to review the actions of the administrative agency. 2 functions of the administrative agencies: quasi judicial function and the regulation function. They: interpret the law, make decisions based on evidence, lawmaking by precedent. Judges make law by choosing which precedent to apply a new situation (often by analogy) Precedent is weaker, less authoritative source of law than statute. Good because you don"t have to decide on your own, look to the wisdom of other judges, makes the law less arbitrary. If the contradict previous cases and decisions than people and appeal so they must have good reasons.
