Studying existing urban structures and their complex composition which is fundamental to successful urban design and development: a process of abstraction that cannot fully assess the overall complexity of the city or ad individual neighborhood. When presented with issues/problems we turn to analysis to evaluate = an essential part of planning. The role of planning in our communities is often a challenge to readily identify. Communities are complex and evolving entities that are influenced by a range of factors. Us - systematic, creative way to influence the future of neighborhoods, cities, rural and metropolitan areas, and even the country and the world. Urban and regional planners use their professional skills to serve communities facing social, economic, and cultural and env"t challenges by helping community residents to: Develop ways to preserve and enhance quality of life. Identify policies to promote equity and equality. Structure programs to improve services to disadvantaged communities.
