Elaboraion is one of the techniques where new informaion is associated with previously stored informaion and ideas are connected. In this technique, a mental image is used to assist memory. Informaion that comes from the environment is irst stored in the sensory register, which is in its rawest form. This sensory register has a large capacity and contains sensory informaion. There is a very brief retenion period as visual informaion is usually retained for about 0. 25-0. 5 seconds and the auditory informaion lasts between 1-2 seconds.
