The midterm consists of
a)
20 multiple-choice questions at 2 points for 40 marks (40%)
b)
2 short paragraph answer questions at 10 points each for 20 marks (20%) (There will be a
choice of questions to answer).
c)
4 definitions at 5 points for 20 marks (20%) (there will be a choice of what to define)
d)
1 question at 20 marks (20%) on reflexivity.
The exam will cover all lecture material, class discussions, documentary films and assigned book
chapters up to and including the week on Tourism. articles with the exception of Chapter 32. In
particular play close attention to the lecture slides.
Everything from the assigned readings, to the lectures, to the debates is fair game for this
exam. You should know theorists’ names and the sociological perspective or concepts they are
associated with. You need to be able to understand and to define social control and its types.
