Classical conditioning: reactions can be acquired by associating one stimulus with another (also called pavlovian conditioning, requires 2 things: Reflex; an existing connection between a stimulus and a response, such that the first causes the second. Stimulus in the reflex must become associated in time and place with another stimulus (neutral: involves: Unconditioned stimulus (us); only reflex, stimulus causing response. Conditioned stimulus (cs); response occurs under conditions. Leads to creation of our likes and dislikes. Instrumental conditioning: instrumental conditioning/operant conditioning; active conditioning - rewards and punishments, habit hierarchy; order of responses derives from prior conditioning - some more likely than others, reinforcer; strengthens the tendency to do the act that preceeded it. Behaviours acquired faster: partial reinforcement; the behavior is followed by a reinforce only some of the time.
