How to do well in the course: look at what is to be presented before class, bring slides, explore resources of the ocean. Water has a pattern: it is moving all the time, moving in very big scales. Density is controlled by temperature and salutation: warm water floats on cold, some liquids are more saluted than others, global circulation is very impactful on the climate. Cold water replaces waters that are moving north and south as the earth rotates and is called upwelling.
