Document Summary

Understand the concept of a biosphere and earth system science and that the biosphere has evolved over time. The biosphere is a thin layer of life on the earth"s surface. Biosphere has evolved over time as species that adapted remained on earth and other species who did not were overcome and became extinct. Biosphere is a thin layer of life composed of ecosystems - its evolved through time some species adapted some extinct. Distinguish between the oldest and youngest portion of a geological section using principles of superposition, original horizontality, lateral continuity, and cross cutting relationships. The principle of superposition states that lower layers of sediment are older and higher layers of sediment are younger. The principle of original horizontality states that tilted or folded layers were originally flat. The principle of lateral continuity states that if a layer is found in one region then it is likely that a similar layer can be found in another region.
