Lo1 explain why obeying the law is only the first step in behaving ethically. It"s not uncommon that businesses have been involved in unethical business. It"s both for-profit business people and government employees. The first step to restore trust in the free-market system is to punish those accordingly. A problem with establishing a new law, is that people may begin to think that any behavior within the law is acceptable. Ethics are the standards of moral behavior; that is, behavior that is accepted by society as right versus wrong. Some people think that identifying common standards of ethical behavior is impossible due to diverse cultures. However, among sources from many different times and places (bible, books etc), the basic moral values of integrity, respect, self-control, honesty and courage are followed. Lo2 ask the three questions to answer when faced with a potentially unethical action. Ethical behavior should be exhibited in our daily lives, not just in the business environment.
