Drug metabolism takes place primarily in the liver. It reduces half-life, thus the drug is removed from the system. Phase i taking an o2 & h2 is it non-synthetic less liquid soluble and less bioavailability sometimes, some drugs will go through this phase (twice). Drug competition drugs metabolized by the same enzyme, thus competing for the same sites. Nicotine and caffeine metabolized by different enzymes. Neurotransmitter receptors are not the same as drug receptors. Hydromorphone: heroin, more potent than morphine, lower dose produces the desired effect.
