Back at regulation talking about social control. How to self-come to control itself and regulate its own behaviour. The acquisition of self/mind = the ability to self-regulate. Taking role of the other is all about self-regulation. Imperative for society to happen in order to cooperate & coordinate our behaviour. This is how we come to understand the world around us. The desire to maintain and enhance status = Playing our face & the face is sacred. Want to be seen as competent maintaining status/reputation. Enhancement to be better more powerful/prestige. Emotionally attached to rules = harder to cheat the rules. Another way of talking about the rules. Become aware of generalised other (community) expectation are of how to behave. Sharing culture w/ a person, group, class of people = Believing in the legitimacy (or the moral rightness) of the culture. Every relationship develops its own culture and understanding. Bourdieu habitus embodiment of culture that we have learnt.
