Demonological view: abnormal behaviour is the result of supernatural forces; possessed by a spirit or voluntarily made a pact with dark forces. Trephination: hole in the skull procedure to release the spirit. Early biological views were that mental illnesses were diseases just like physical disorders but on the brain. General paresis: mental deterioration and bizarre behaviour.
