Two stages : cyst (when conditions are harsh, trophozite (when it has been ingested) Human ingests microscopic egg from either contaminated food, water, or soil. Can include jock itch and yeast infections (thrush) Sites that have a known normal biota and sterile sites and fluids. Normal flora (microbes that live on us and do not normally cause disease) Two categories of diseases (refer to picture) If you eat out at a restaurant and you get food poisoning. If you ate potato salad that has been sitting out and has been touched by someone who had an infection. History of infectious diseases: pioneers in microbiology, epidemiology terms.
