There are 6 different levels of structural organization in the human body. They are classified as the chemical level, the cellular level, the tissue level, the organ level, the organ system level and the organism level. Chemical level- the chemical level is composed of the smallest structure in an organism. It is composed of atoms which join to form molecules. (example- hydrogen atoms get together with oxygen atoms to form water which is necessary for a living organism. ) The cellular level- the cellular level is composed of the smallest unit of life, which are cells. Cells are composed of organelles which are necessary for the functioning of the body. Most of the cells are specialized with specific functions. (smooth muscle cells, kidney cells, heart cells) Tissue level- tissues are groups of similar cells that share a common function.
