Document Summary

Add: alienation in calhoun textbook: page 1445-155. What are the 4 alienation and how are they related to labor commodity theory, fetish theory etc: alienation from production process. Due to the industrial revolution, the worker has lost almost all control over production. They do not control how work is done, the speed it is done in, and the quality of the finished product. Only responsible for portion of the product, thus don"t see final product, thus isolated from that as well: alienation from product. According to marx worker could not care less about the finished product. Only cares for the money being provided for his labor. The worker has lost the value of the finished product. Unlike old days, the smith use to value its finished product; not anymore. There is no sense of attachment; everything is just ordinary: alienation from self/ humanity. Lose touch from others and become alienated. The product labor begins to overpower the laborer.
