Both companies began as very successful, profitable businesses and quickly became global players. However, as time went on, both philips and matsushita faced several internal and external challenges that created road blocks that are extremely difficult to overcome. Philips has struggled with frequent changes in leadership over a short time horizon, several massive lay-offs and facilities closures and muddled attempts at reorganization: the company does not have a clearly defined strategy in place. Matsushita struggled with decentralizing their highly centralized operations, collapsing domestic markets and troubled global markets: Matsushita needs to strengthen its brand recognition and gain a greater share in international markets to be less effected by economic impacts. Analysis: i will be conducting a pestle analysis for the industry for my analysis.
