Primary focus: us - most issues focused on will be from the us. Topics - the self-righteous mind, default settings. Psychological approach: get up to speed on the issues, learn about the psych approaches that contribute to or could solve these issues. Not always consistent with what science says. Ideology: a set of ideas about beliefs about how society should work. Canadians tend to be liberal on social issues and conservative on economic issues. However, a single dimension is a good rst approximation of where people stand, especially when social issues become a team sport. In this course we will focus on a single left-right dimension. Most people think they are more right (self-righteous) The most humble people are option 1, you either think you"re right or you think you"re not. People with belief systems tend to think they are motivated by love and the opponents are motivated by hate. A function of being surrounded by like-minded people.
