Geography of tourism 2144: final exam study guide 2017. I need to be in a specific place that has meaning to me. When travel is unintentional it is: destination anywhere. Our mental state for travel is a specific place that generates within, or just not the mental space as i am currently in. (just get me out of here) All tourism is experience, and premise of the course is to understand how you experience tourism. Gateway to discovery- a better engagement to others (when we travel we learn as much about myself as that new space). We ultimately are motivated to discover about who we are. We learn more about ourselves when our flight is delayed, when the food was not what it wasthe unexpected. When we travel, we get to try on a different sense of who we are. We learn about generic spaces, golf courses, ski hills. There are specific places that are generic and easy.
