Document Summary

International law deals with the legal relations between states. It deals with some topics: war and peace, the sea, the environment, economic and financial relations (world bank, international monetary fund, world trade organisation ), crime (interpol, conventions ) and human rights. Globalization has led to a situation where everyone can be part of international law, not only states: international organisations, multinational enterprises, nongovernmental institutions and even individuals: States: at the beginning only western countries (european) could be part of the international law, then only civilised and now all the peace-loving countries can. But, as states are not kicked out of the un for not being peace-loving, we consider now that international law is applicable to all the states. The most fundamental aspect of international law is the sovereign equality of states, all of them have voice and vote. International organisation: they are intergovernmental organisations, institutions with states as members. There are regional (eu) and worldwide (un) organisations.
