Deal with chemical energy on daily basis as it is the energy we gain from food. Anything that possesses mass has an invisible field that pulls stuff toward it including us. Kinetic energy (from motion, increases with mass and speed) Suppose you hear that there are 2 asteroids headed toward earth. Asteroid a is twice as heavy as asteroid b, but asteroid b is twice as fast. Which should scare you more, and why? (no calculations necessary!) Use this to explain why an object speeds up as it falls toward the earth. Energy is always conserved: in any process, the total amount of energy remains constant with time (ex. Roller coaster) - kinetic energy and gravitational potential energy changes but total energy does not.
