Attachment- an intense emotional tie with another person. Babies form attachment more than just who feeds them. The most positive attachment is seen with parents who are both sensitive (to their needs) and responsive (appropriately responsive, not hovering over their children) The child is less likely to be distraught during the strange situation and will not run to the parents when they return. The parent prob has been absent when the child needs them. Not sure what to expect from the parent bc parent"s pattern of care is inconsistent. Sometimes the parent is there and available and sometimes they"re avoidant. During strange situation, the child will be upset when the parent leaves but will not be easily soothed when the parent comes back bc they don"t know if the parent will leave again. Attachment patterns carry over into their adult lives. Schemas: mental models for storing our experiences. Assimilation- we try to fit new experiences into existing schemas.
