Document Summary

Not the same as everyday problems but . Nearly 50% of people will suffer from some type of psychopathology. Diathesis- vulnerability or predisposition to a disorder. Some people due to their biology they are more likely to develop the symptoms of a disorder. When were talking about stressors as diathesis they are in the past and they were very traumatic at a young age. If someone has biological or environmental diathesis but low stress, they have a less likelihood to receive a disorder. Stress acts like a catalyst for the diathesis (enhances the effect) Low, infrequent stress- lower probability of emergence. High, frequent stress- higher probability of emergence. Loss of job or loved one, etc. Biological and environmental components of mental health issues. Mental health disorders are the results of biological and environmental factors that increase or decrease the likelihood. People who live in urban environments show the symptoms more than those living in rural environments.
