identification, include 1) the year that the legislation was passed or the year the court case took

1. Executive Order 9066 (Week 7)
a. Year: 1942
b. What: The executive order that authorized japanese internment
c. Impact: over a hundred thousand japanese were interned during the war, most of
them were American citizens.
2. Loving v. Virginia (Week 5)
a. Year: 1967
b. Supreme Court decision on interracial marriage court rules that gov’t couldn’t
ban interracial marriage
c. Impact: Even though case was about a black-white marriage, ruling meant Asian
interracial marriage could happen too. Interracial marriage was def a thing for
Asians (esp since disproportionate % of asian men vs asian women)
3. War Brides Act
a. Year: 1945
b. Law that allowed foreign wives/children of American military men to immigrate
to the US outside the quota system
c. Impact: caused a lot of Asian women to move to the US
