Positive control: you would inject people with something that would give them autism. Negative control: you would inject people with a saline solution. We have reached the point where we can genetically modify humans. Cory was blind, but one eye got injected with a gene and it was fixed (only one eye because it is risky, but also as a negative control) Bacteriophage to bacteria is what virus is to human. Bacteria get infected by bacteriophages, humans get infected by viruses. Virus is nature"s way to get stuff into cells! Vitalism: around aristotle"s time. idea that living things are alive because there"s a lifeforce (there is no lifeforce!) We are a bunch of molecules called proteins. Life is built around proteins and the machine of heredity. While we are alive, we fight the second law of thermodynamics. Living organisms are a way to create a pocket of order by decreasing the order in the universe (increasing the chaos)
