Believed striving toward something superior, but didn"t say how we should go about doing it; his ideas were simplistic. Drives all of us to do something; can knock us down or motivate us to improve our situation. Adler was the first to look at this issue before there was family therapy; birth order influences personality; firstborns are dethroned when a second child comes along. The theory that social interactions and constructs alone determine individual behavior (as opposed to biological or objective factors). No two are exactly alike, like fingerprints, unique to each person; we form this early on and it becomes difficult to change.
