Islam is the path of submission and muslims are submitters who seek peace in this life. Islam is a term used in the religion of islam. The five pillars are the core practices of islam and an architectural metaphor of a building with supports on four corners and at the center. The five pillars of islamic faith are shahada, salat, zakat, sawm, and hajj. (confession of faith, prayer, almsgiving, fasting, and the pilgrimage to mecca) Allah is the arabic word for god. Allah is, for muslims, absolutely and totally transcendent and far beyond all human conceptions of him. The hadith is a scriptural collection of muhammad"s sayings and actions second in authority only to the quran. The hadith has long provided a basis for islamic law and is a major source of guidance for muslims. Hajj is the muslim pilgrimage to mecca that all muslims are expected to make at least one during their lifetime.
