Document Summary

The explanation of rhetoric uses in jacques the death of socrates . The death of socrates created by jacques joseph depicts the final moments of. Socrates after he drinks the hemlock soon after being found guilty in court which plato explains in his book the phaedo of plato . At first glimpse, a few things stand out right away. The man in yellow dead center of the painting pushing another man in white away as a group of men surround them in the shadows all the while there is a chalice at the very bottom. This right away sets a stage and tone of the painting as it follows this one-man yellow who happens to be socrates. This is made even more clear by how the painter purposely arranges the light to focus almost solely on him and the chalice at the bottom.
